Six families of construction chemicals

Most products on a jobsite fit into one of these groups. Start with the problem you need to solve, then read about the chemistry that tends to solve it.

Pc01 Protective coatings A protective coating is a thin film that stands between a surface and whatever wants to wear it down: water, chemicals, abrasion, salt or sunlight. Wp02 Waterproofing Waterproofing keeps water on the outside of a structure. It can be a membrane on top, a treatment inside the concrete, or both. Sj03 Sealants and joint fillers Joints are there on purpose so a structure can move. Sealants and fillers close those gaps without stopping the movement. Ad04 Concrete admixtures Admixtures are added to concrete in small amounts to change how it places, sets or lasts. Fl05 Floor coatings A floor coating turns bare concrete into a surface that is easier to clean and better at handling traffic, spills and wear. Pu06 Polyurea Polyurea is a two part coating that cures within seconds of leaving the spray gun, building a tough, flexible membrane in a single visit.
